ACMPR & LICENSE TO GROW
The Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (also known as ACMPR) allows individuals with a medical need and authorization access to medical cannabis through three different avenues.
Individuals can either continue their access to medical cannabis products by registering with a licensed producer, they can register with Health Canada to grow a small amount of cannabis for personal medicinal use, or they can designate someone to grow cannabis for them.
Under federal legislation, Canadians are allowed to cultivate a small supply of cannabis for personal use. After obtaining a License to Grow, Canadians are allowed to grow up to four cannabis plants in one residence or designate someone else to grow said plants on their behalf. In pervious versions of legislation, medical cannabis users were only allowed to buy seeds from Health Canada.

By growing their own medical cannabis patients are able to take an active role in their healing. This empowerment allows patients to have more control of their health and healing.
When you are producing your own medical cannabis you are able to take charge of quality control and the growing process. This can involve such as removing pesticides and other chemicals from the farming process. You have total control over what is nourishing your plants.
After the initial set-up, growing your own medical cannabis supply can save you money in the long run. Some insurance companies and employers do not cover or offer minimal coverage for medical marijuana in their health benefits. This means the burden of paying for medical marijuana often falls entirely on the patient.
